If you are like I was, you have decent teeth and an ok smile. For some, this is fine. But others want perfection. I was this person. I constantly envied friends of mine who got veneers, and never failed to notice when a celebrity had gotten a smile makeover.
I hope this article will give you some insight and make you feel more comfortable about taking the step to get veneers. They will truly change your life just like they did to mine.
Before and After Veneers
When I tell you that my new smile changed my life, I’m not kidding. I remember sitting in the dental chair while my veneers were getting put on and feeling excited. To be completely honest though, at first they felt odd. I felt like people would notice, and that worried me. I was recommended to give them a “test run” and live with them for a week or two.
From the moment I stepped out of Dr. Schuman’s office, I felt different and people looked at me differently. Yes, really. They were impressed and that was obvious. Veneers give you this confidence that comes along with a beautiful smile, something I never had experienced before. I wouldn’t be lucky to be living with this confidence if I listened to the rumors I heard and believed to be true about veneers.
Rumor #1: They Ruin Your Teeth
What was holding me back from making my decision to get veneers were rumors, which now I know are misconceptions. Many people think that veneers ruin your teeth. This was one of my biggest concerns. There are 2 kinds of veneers, ones that go over your whole tooth, and ones that only cover the front of each tooth, neither of which ruin your teeth. Before getting your veneers put on, your teeth will be prepped. Contrary to what many think, prep doesn’t mean your tooth gets shaved and whittled down to nothing. Of course, some of the tooth has to be shaved for the veneer to fit around it, but most of the time not much more than .5 millimeters actually gets taken off.
Rumor #2: They’re Expensive
The second thing I was worried about, and why many people avoid getting veneers, is that they’re perceived to be super expensive. But here, like with everything, there are options. You don’t have to veneer all your teeth, you can choose to only do the front ones that show, or even just the front top teeth. So no matter if you fell and broke a tooth, or you want a whole mouth of perfect teeth, there’s an option for all budgets.
Your Million Dollar Smile
It’s important to know that the dentists goal isn’t to make you look like a TV star or a model (even though you’ll feel that way). Their goal after you leave the office is that you look like yourself, just 100 times better. So you look like a new and improved version of yourself.
A good dentist realizes that one smile doesn’t fit all, and that what works for one person doesn’t work for everyone. The best thing about veneers is that they’re completely customizable. During my consultation, we spoke about my personality, my style, the expressions I make, the way I talk and more, to give Dr. Schuman an idea of myself and my life. This helped him design the veneers to be perfect. I not only look like a new version of myself, but my teeth feel, act, and look like my actual teeth.
Most Important to Remember
The most critical thing to take away from this article is that to get incredible results, you need to go to an incredible dentist. Since veneers are completely aesthetic, you need a dentist with an artistic eye. This is why I trust Dr. Schuman and wouldn’t let any other dentist touch my teeth.
